"Low Season" Really "Green Season"
And That Means Big Savings
We'd certainly like to meet the misguided individual or group that originally decided that Costa Rica has a "High Season" (Dec. 1-March 31) (July 1-August 31) and a "Low Season" (April 1-June 30) (Sept. 1-Nov.30).
In all honesty, there really is no such thing as a "low season." in this majestic Central American country. More appropriately, it should be called the "Green Season." In Guanacaste Province, in this particular case, it is the time of year when the greatest amount of rainfall is recorded.
By nature Guanacaste Province on the Pacific Northwest Coast is actually one of the drier areas of the country. The approximate rainfall is but a modest 100 inches each year.
Do you know what happens during and following a rainfall? The flowers and trees perk up - eventually the greens are a whole lot greener. The birds and other critters come out of their living quarters for a refreshing bath. Temperatures cool.
And an afternoon rain is the ideal excuse for a relaxing siesta or, better still, a refreshing libation at a street side soda or restaurant.
Sure, a heavy rain emerges occasionally (just like where you live) but all-in-all the "green season" weather pattern is somewhat similar to that of the United States tourist destination of Florida during the summer. Sunshine for most of the day and a refreshing one or two -hour rain in the afternoon. It's delightful.
LOWER RATES
And guess what? During "Green Season" you not only get to enjoy vibrant colors and cooling rains but also get LOWER RATES. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense - but its true.
For instance, the "High Season" rate for a two-bedroom condo at Los Almendros is an already reasonable $960 a week but drops to $714 during the "Green Season" months of April, May and June. A three-bedroom villa drops from $1,260 a week to $894. That's a pretty significant savings, especially if you are going to stay two or three weeks.
The savings on a four-bedroom villa is nearly $800 a week. (All Los Almendros rates are shown at the www.losalmendrosrentals.com website.)
By the way, if you are a Costa Rica resident or an AARP member, you receive a healthy 10% discount on quoted prices. And an even larger one if you plan a really extended stay.
Add up the savings and you will quickly realize why budget-minded vacationers choose to stay at Los Almendros during the April/May/June "Green Season."
$50 A DAY
Two couples rent a two-bedroom, two-bath (approximately 1,000 SF) for $714 a week - that's $102 a day. An AARP discount brings it well below $100 a day. They share in the costs so each couple is paying less than $50 a day to stay in an Oceanside resort in beautiful Costa Rica. It doesn't get any better than this.
It is anticipated that our regular flock of some 25 or more fun-loving Canadian guests will be winging their way to Los Almendros during this period so a word to the wise - book now for the "Green Season" starting in April. A full reservation/inquiry form is available on the website. Or you can call the reservations manager at 011-506-670-1744.
We would be remiss if we didn't make you aware that Christmas and Easter Weeks are very special times for residents of Costa Rica. Every quality waterfront community, such as Los Almendros, is completely booked at higher than usual rates by Costa Rican families. And since most all locals are celebrating these special times, not a whole lot gets done in the services sector. Costa Ricans certainly know how to live life to its fullest.
Now you can, too - no matter what time of year you visit Costa Rica.
